Kazakh conductor Alan Buribayev has recently been named as Principal Conductor Designate of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. In 2007 Alan began his tenure as the Principal Conductor of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, and just a few weeks later, was announced Chief Conductor of The Brabants Philharmonic Orchestra in the Netherlands. Both orchestras invited Alan to take up a role within their organisation after just one day of rehearsal – a true testament to his wonderful musicianship and communication skills.
Previously Alan Buribayev was Generalmusikdirektor of the Meiningen Theatre in Germany. His tenure in Meiningen began in September 2004 and ran until summer 2007. His productions have included Offenbach: Tales of Hoffman, Mozart: Idomeneo and Marriage of Figaro, Janacek: Jenufa, Weber: Der Freischutz and Strauss: Salome, and he also conducted six symphonic programmes per season. Productions in the past season included Max von Schillings Mona Lisa, Verdi Trovatore and Wagner The Flying Dutchman.
