Amanda Echalaz started her career at English Touring Opera where she went on to sing the title roles in Cosi fan tutte, Alcina, Jenufa and Tatyana in Eugene Onegin. Amanda subsequently represented South Africa in Cardiff Singer of the World 2005. Other roles include Manon Lescaut (Manon) and L’amore dei tre Rei (Fiora) for Opera Holland Park.
In 2008 Amanda made her debut at Covent Garden in the world premiere of Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s opera The Minotaur and sang the title role of Tosca for Opera Holland Park to unanimous critical acclaim. “Amanda Echalaz's Tosca was thrillingly sung. Echalaz is now set to be the leading Tosca of her generation. With unforced, candid tone, elegant movement and expressive face . . . every note and nuance is true.” The Independent – (Anna Picard).
