A committed recital artist, Andreas Scholl performs in the world's leading concert halls and festivals including Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Cologne Philharmonie, Concertgebouw, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Châtelet, Tonhalle Zurich, and at the Sydney, Lufthansa, Schleswig-Holstein, Beaune, Schubertiade, and Salzburg Festivals. Concert performances have included appearances with the Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester, and Münchner Philharmoniker.In 2005, he was honoured to be the first counter-tenor to sing at the world famous Last Night of the Proms with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Andreas Scholl's operatic debut as Bertarido in Handel’s Rodelinda for the Glyndebourne Festival Opera was greeted with unprecedented critical acclaim. He since has repeated this role for the Metropolitan Opera and Théâtre du Châtelet. He starred in the title role of Handel’s Giulio Cesare for Royal Danish Opera (recorded and commercially available on Decca DVD) and he has reprised this role for Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Opéra de Lausanne.Andreas Scholl also was the centrepiece of a Lincoln Center New Visions presentation, created for him in a production by Mark Lamos, entitled The Renaissance Muse, a fully produced program of English lute songs and Shakespearean sonnets co-commissioned by Lincoln Center and the Barbican Centre.
Highlights of Andreas Scholl's present season include an extensive European tour with Accademia Bizantina and a concert tour of Australia featuring works by Purcell and Handel; a Handel arias concert in New Zealand; and solo recitals in Zürich, Schwarzenberg, Barcelona, Bergen and at Wigmore Hall - his first with piano.The artist also records an all-Purcell album - O Solitude - for Decca.
