Deanna Breiwick has performed recently as Johanna (Sweeney Todd) with Opera Theatre of St. Louis, where she will return as Mabel (Pirates of Penzance) in 2013. She sang the role of Clizia in Handel’s Teseo with Chicago Opera Theatre as well as Sophie Scholl in the American Premier of Peter Maxwell Davies’Kommilitonen! with the Juilliard Opera. With the Metropolitan Opera Ms. Breiwick covered the role of Ariel in The premier of The Enchanted Island and was a featured soloist in their Summer Recital Series.
Ms. Breiwick was a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival where she sang the role of Nannetta (Falstaff) and was the soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. She made her Zankel Hall debut singing the title role of Mozart’s Zaide with the Academy under the direction of David Robertson. Ms. Breiwick has been featured as Thérese in the Juilliard Opera production of Les mamelles de Tirésias, the title role in Handel’sClori, Tirsi e Fileno with Juilliard 415 under the baton of Nicholas McGegan, and performed with conductor William Christie in a performance of Handel’s Saeviat tellus in Alice Tully Hall. As a fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center she sang the role of Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos). Additional roles include Une Bergere in a co-production of Armide with the Metropolitan Opera and the Juilliard School, Sr. Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites) with The Mannes Opera, and two premieres with the VOX Opera Lab with New York City Opera.
Ms. Breiwick, a native of Seattle, WA holds degrees from The Juilliard School and Mannes College of Music.
