Upon completion of his studies Dimitris Tiliakos joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Since his 1997 debut with that theater he has sung a variety of roles: Guglielmo, Almaviva, Papageno and Sprecher, Donner, Dandini, Germont, Marcello, Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore and the title role in Don Giovanni.
In Germany he has also sung as a guest artist at the Lübeck Opera House as Monforte in I Vespri Siciliani, at the Karlsruhe Opera House as Conte Almaviva, at the Saarländisches Staatstheater as Conte di Luna and premiered as Ulysses in the opera “Recherche” of Babette Koblenz at the Münchener Biennale for Contemporary Music Theater.
In his native Greece he recently sang the roles of Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana, alongside Agnes Baltsa, and Sharpless in Madame Butterfly under the direction of Renata Scotto in Thessaloniki. At the Greek national opera, Athens, he has performed Conte di Luna, Marcello, Escamillo and Don Giovanni as well as Posa. He participated in the premiere of the opera “Lysistrata” by Mikis Theodorakis in the amphitheater of Epidaurus and sang the title role in Simone Boccanegra at the Megaron in Athens.
In 2008, Mr. Tiliakos made his debut at the Royal Opera House - Covent Garden and the Opera Bastille (both as Posa in Don Carlo). He returned to Paris for a new production of Macbeth in 2009. Mr Tiliakos is making a name also as a concert singer and recently had an outstanding success in Beethoven`s 9th in Tokyo with Anna Tomowa-Sintow under the baton of Chung Myung Whun.
He will make his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2010 (La Bohème, Don Carlo). Future engagements include Aida in Cologne, Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots in Madrid and Macbeth at the Lille Opera.
