Dmitri Hvorostovsky was born in Siberia, Russia in 1962. He began his professional music studies in his native town.
In 1989, Dmitri Hvorostovsky won the prestigious Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. The event, televised internationally, resulted in Dmitri Hvorostovsky's immediate recognition as a new opera star. The international audiences and critics admired his cultivated voice, innate sense of musical line and natural bel canto style legato.
Dmitri Hvorostovsky debuted at the Nice Opera in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame, and since has performed regularly at the world’s major opera theaters including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, New York’s Metropolitan Opera, the Paris Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Teatro alla Scala Milan, the Vienna State Opera, and the Chicago Lyric Opera. Dmitri Hvorostovsky is a regular featured artist renowned international festivals and in recitals around the world.
