Biography

Elchin Azizov performed Escamillo in Carmen (Galina Vishnevskaya’s Opera Centre, Bolshoi Theatre), the title role in Eugene Onegin (Galina Vishnevskaya’s Opera Centre, Bolshoi Theatre, and Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg), Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta, Tomsky in The Queen of Spades, Leandro in Love for Three Oranges, and Doctor Falke in Die Fledermaus (all at Bolshoi Theatre).

More recently Elchin Azizov has sung Iago in Otello (Big Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Vladimir Fedoseev, conductor), Gryaznoy in The Tsar’s Bride (Bolshoi Theatre, Tallinn, London), Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta (Bolshoi Theatre, and Dresden and Warsaw on tour), Amonasro in Aida (Santiago de Chile), Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta (Theater an der Wien).   

Elchin Azizov's upcoming engagements include Scarpia in Tosca, Shchelkalov in Boris Godunov, Macbeth in Macbeth, Germont in La Traviata (all at Bolshoi Theatre), Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta (Metropolitan Opera, New York), Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore (Opera de Limoges), Germont in La Traviata (Komische Oper Berlin).

Elchin Azizov is the winner of the 2nd Prize of The International Opera Singers Contest of Galina Vishnevskaya (2008), and of the 4th Prize of The International Opera Singers Contest of Byulbyul in Baku (2005).

Elchin Azizov acted in many movies (Azerbaijan, Russia, and Turkey) and was the stage director of several movies and plays.
