Evgeny Kissin, two-time Grammy Award winner and one of the most celebrated pianists on a concert scene today, was born in Moscow in 1971 and began playing piano at the age of two. At age six, Evgene entered the Moscow Special School For Gifted Children, the Moscow Gnessin School of Music. His teacher was professor Anna Kantor. At age ten, Evgeny Kissin made his orchestral debut performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 466. His solo recital debut was in Moscow later the same year. Evgeny Kissin first international acclaim was in 1984 when he performed both Chopin’s Piano Concertos with The Moscow State Philharmonic. Evgeny was only 12 years old at that time. The concert was recorded live and released worldwide.
