Expressing himself about its influences, Franck explains then: " in the way of conceiving the trio of jazz, it is difficult to deny the influence of Bill Evans, so strong and evident as she acts on number of meetings. However, my initiative consists, from the music arisen from the various trainings of Bud Powell, in developing it in another direction than those taken by the pianists who succeeded him such hard boppers Tommy Flanagan, Wynton Kelly or Red Garland.

The notion of fragility (" to play on the knife edge ") got lost to my opinion in the trio. The emotion which arises from this fragility is nevertheless powerful. We find this fragility at the trumpeter Kenny Dorham, to whom I dedicated "Kenny", or still with Miles Davis, period "Kind of Blue". Also at Thelonious Monk, where this emotion is even comparable to the urgency.
The music is constantly stretched out towards its paroxysm. The tension in the music is a fundamental element. It is also connected to the risk-taking, the idea very expensive to Martial Solal, idea which I share." Louis makes listen to to his brother Michel Petrucciani on his car radio a bad copy K7 of Lumieres album.
