Biography

Frank Dupree first international engagement led him to Nancy/France in 2005, where he performed as the soloist in the Piano Concerto No. 1 in b-flat minor by Tchaikovsky. He subsequently performed this work with the SWR Symphonic Orchestra Kaiserslautern at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. During the course of his still young career, Frank won prizes at sixty national and international competitions such “Concorso Pianistico Internazionale ROMA 2006” , “A Step To Mastership” in Saint Petersburg/Russia. In addition to numerous engagements in Germany, several international concerts in Paris, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Salzburg, Prague, Bucharest, Minneapolis, as well as Beijing and Chengdu.

As the winner of the renowned international piano competition “e-Piano Junior Competition“ in Minneapolis, USA in July of 2008 he is one of the top pianists of his age group.

Frank Dupree is highly active playing recitals, performing as a solo pianist with orchestra and playing chamber music both at the piano and as a conductor, and has acquired an enormous repertoire.

He was a soloist under Peter Falk with the SWR-Symphony Orchestra Kaiserslautern, gave concerts with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic under Werner Stiefel and Pavel Baleff, he played with the Minnesota Orchestra conducted by Mark Russell Smith and with the famous solo trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich under conductor Sebastian Teewinkel. Referring to Frank Dupree's interpretation of Dmitri Shostakovich's Concerto No. 1 for Trumpet, Piano and Orchestra, Reinhold Friedrich lauded: "I have played this with many pianists, I know the parts where it might get difficult. He goes through those like a warm knife  soft butter. "

Frank Dupree's appearances in Radio and  broadcasts are also becoming more and more frequent: He appeared in an SWR show titled "Mozart-Child Prodigy and Myth" with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. In 2011 the SWR produced a radio talk show and a TV portrait about the young pianist and conductor to celebrate the founding of his orchestra, the YOUNG GENERATION ORCHESTRA. The popular TV talk show host Frank Elstner invited Frank Dupree to his show "Die Besten im Südwesten" ("The best in the south west").
