Canadian soprano Kimy McLaren has only just begun what promises to be a fruitful career spanning Baroque to Contemporary repertoire. As a concert soloist, this young Canadian has already performed with eminent conductors and orchestras including Charles Dutoit and the Montréal Symphony Orchestra and Jori Hattori and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. On the opera stage she has performed as Marzelline in Fidelio with Opéra National de Bordeaux, Hélène in La Belle Hélène with Festival à Montpelier, as well as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos at . . . the Orford Arts Center in Montreal. She has also been heard as Ninfa in Monteverdi’s Orfeo, at the invitation of conductor Emmanuelle Haïm, in a joint production by Théâtre du Châtelet, Opéra de Lille, Théâtre de Caen and Opéra National du Rhin. In 2004, she received tremendous acclaim for her portrayal of Marie in the Orford Arts Center production of Alban Berg’s Wozzeck under the baton of Yannick Nezet-Seguin. She is a winner of the prestigious International Mozart Festival Competition in Salzburg and the Mario Lanza Competition in Italy.
