About

Lucy Jeal was born in London in 1974, and took up the violin at the age of 5. She was a scholar at the Purcell School and subsequently at Westminster School, winning an Associated Board Scholarship to the Royal College of Music where she studied with Felix Andrievsky, and then at the Guildhall with David Takeno, before spending two years as a Dean's Talent Scholar at Oberlin College, Ohio, in the USA.

At the age of 17, Lucy won the London Philharmonic/Pioneer International ‘Young Soloist of the Year’ Competition. Her winning performance of the Tchaikovsky Concerto in the competition final at the Queen Elizabeth Hall led to a later performance of the same concerto at the Royal Festival Hall with the LPO under Yakov Kreizberg.
