The artistic Director and violin soloist of the Hungarian Virtuosi Ochestra, Miklos Szenthelyi was born in Budapest in 1952. In 1973 he graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music with distinction, as pupil of Denes Kovacs and has become assistant professor there the same year. Szenthelyi has won the Leo Weiner sonata competition in 1975. In the decades between 1970 and 1990, Szenthelyi has guest performed, as soloist, in many countries in Europe as well as in Japan, Brasil, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Cuba, Canada and ten times in the USA (including 3 times with cellist Leonard Rose). He had played approx. 30concerti with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra abroad , and approx. 100 concerts with his own ensemble, so far. At recitals his permanent sonata partner is his sister, Judit Szenthelyi.
