Sharon Isbin has over 25 recordings, and has been acclaimed for expanding the guitar repertoire with some of the finest new works of the century. She is a two-time GRAMMY® Award winner for “Best Instrumental Soloist,” which made her the first classical guitarist in 28 years to win a GRAMMY®. Her world premiere recording of concerti written for her by Academy Award winner Tan Dun and Pulitzer Prize winner Christopher Rouse also won a GRAMMY®.
Ms. Isbin’s latest release is her 2010 GRAMMY® Award winning CD Journey to the New World (Sony) with guests Joan Baez and Mark O'Connor. Other recent titles include her Latin GRAMMY® nominated recording of the Rodrigo, Ponce and Villa-Lobos concerti with the New York Philharmonic, which made her the only guitarist to record with the New York Philharmonic, and the second ever to perform with them. Sharon Isbin is featured on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award winning "The Departed".
Ms. Isbin also performs duos with Brazilian percussionist Thiago de Mello (and trios with saxophonist Paul Winter), duos with mezzo-soprano Gemma Coma-Alabert, and with violinist Mark O’Connor.
