Ulf Hoelscher has given concerts in the world’s most important musical centres including London, Munich, Hamburg, Paris and Berlin, and has undertaken extensive tours of Europe, Russia, the Far East, Australia, and Japan. His exceptionally broad repertoire is reflected in his award winning recordings with EMI, which include concertos by composers as diverse as Schumann, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Richard Strauss, Brahms, Korngold, Otmar Schoeck, Tchaikovsky, Berg and Spohr.
Ulf Hoelscher has a strong commitment to the virtuoso concerto repertoire and as a champion of contemporary music he has premiered works by Volker David Kirchner and Aribert Reimann (both with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) and Franz Hummel (televised performance in Baden Baden).
Ulf is also dedicated to chamber music. He recorded Brahms Trios, and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Heinrich Schiff and Christian Zacharias and partnered Mstislav Rostropovich and Galina Vishnevskaya in a recording of Shostakovich’s chamber music followed by the Schumann Sonatas with Michel Beroff.
