Yo-Yo Ma

About
Yo-Yo Ma was born in Paris, France in 1955. Yo-Yo Ma family moved to New York four years later. Yo-Yo Ma started to learn playing cello the same year. At age 6 he entered the Juilliard School to study with Leonard Rose. Yo-Yo Ma later studied liberal arts at Harvard University. He graduated Harvard in 1976, and later received an honorary doctorate from Harvard.
Yo-Yo Ma's recording career has been flourishing for more than three decades. He recorded more than 50 albums and won 16 Grammy Awards.
In addition to his recording and performing career, Yo-Yo Ma has taught young musicians at Interlochen, Tanglewood and the Juilliard. Yo-Yo Ma is the founder and Artistic Director of the Silk Road Project and collaborated with Bobby McFerrin, Alison Krauss and James Taylor, among others.
