Karin Lechner & Sergio Tiempo
- Piano Duo
Karin Lechner & Sergio Tiempo: Brought up in music from their very earliest childhood, they started to play together as toddlers and professionally since their early teens. It is a tradition that goes back to their grandparents’ piano duo and was transmitted to them through their mother, Lyl Tiempo, who very symbolically played Mozart Triple as a child with her parents and as an adult with her children, Karin and Sergio.
They now tour the world with an exciting and eclectic repertoire that ranges from Mozart to Lutoslawski and from Bizet to Piazzolla and the tangos of their native Argentina. Their frequent collaboration has taken them to some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Washington Kennedy Center, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
They have recorded several CDs for RCA and EMI, starting with a recital program, and two CDs including tangos that were especially arranged for them by Pablo Ziegler, the pianist in Astor Piazzolla’s legendary quintet. Their brotherly and musical complicity is an asset to their already enthralling performances. Among this season’s highlights rank appearances with the Mozarteum Orchestra under the baton of Ivor Bolton at the Salzburg Festival in August 2007.
