- Piano Trio
The members of Trio Finlandia, pianist Marita Viitasalo, violinist Eeva Koskinen and cellist Riitta Pesola are all distinguished soloists in their own right and have won much critical acclaim both in their native Finland and abroad. Since its spectacular Helsinki debut, Trio Finlandia has appeared throughout Scandinavia, Europe and North America; the group has performed, among others, at the Washington Kennedy Center, at the New York Merkin Hall as well as in Rome, Athens, Paris, London, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Brussels, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Moscow and Toronto.
In addition, it has been a regular guest at top-ranking music festivals such as the Bergen, the Helsinki and the Turku festivals. In the autumn of 1991 Trio Finlandia realized an extensive tour of USA, in the course of which it performed over 20 concerts on the East Coast of North America. As it's name might suggest, Trio Finlandia's programmes often include, besides an extensive selection from the classical trio literature, music by contemporary Finnish composers, whose works the group - the finest of cultural envoys - seeks to introduce to wider international audiences.
Riitta Pesola plays an italian Grancino master instrument dating from 1698 and Eeva Koskinen Ferdinand Gagliano from 1777.
