Biography

Alexei Volodin international career was launched when he won First Prize at the ninth International Géza Anda Piano Competition in Zurich in 2003. His first appearance in the United States took place in recital in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in March of 2008. Mr. Volodin was subsequently invited by Maestro Gergiev to be soloist for Beethoven's Concerto No. 5, the "Emperor," with the Kirov Orchestra. He toured Japan in December 2008 and the US in March 2009 with the London Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Gergiev, and in the 2009-10 season he made his New York Philharmonic debut as a guest artist at The Russian Stravinsky festival, again under the baton of Valery Gergiev.
