Biography

Last season saw Daniel Cohen assist maestro Daniel Barenboim at the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in the preparation of a Beethoven symphonies cycle as well as major works by Schoenberg and Boulez. Forthcoming engagements include concerts with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra (on the invitation of Pierre Boulez), the Orchestra Internazionale d'Italia, and a return to Israeli Opera to conduct Verdi’s Rigoletto (directed by David Pountney).

Following his graduation from the postgraduate conducting program at London's Royal Academy of Music, Daniel won first prizes at the Admont International Conducting Competition and the Aviv Competitions. More recently Daniel was honoured at the Evgeny Svetlanov Conducting Competition.
