Biography

Graeme Broadbent: For Opera North he has sung Zemlinsky’s “Der Zwerg”, Weill’s “Seven Deadly Sins”, Falla’s “La Vida Breve”, Angelotti ("Tosca"), Caronte (Monteverdi’s “Orfeo”) and Jonathan Dove's "Pinocchio"; for Opera Holland Park he has sung Gremin (“Eugene Onegin”), Sulpice (“Fille du Regiment”), Raleigh (“Roberto Devereux”), Nilakantha (“Lakme”) and Sparafucile ("Rigoletto).  Other engagements have included Commendatore (“Don Giovanni”) and Foltz ("Meistersinger") for the Glyndebourne Festival and Basilio (“The Barber of Seville”) for English National Opera. He has appeared with the Opera Comique, in Lyon, Montpellier, Nimes, Caen, Monte Carlo, at the Lugano, Granada, Athens and Peralada Festivals, the New Zealand Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Theater an der Wien and the Baden-Baden Festival. This season he sings both Father Trulove ("The Rake's Progress") and Basilio for Scottish Opera, and returns there next season for "Pirates of Penzance". He will appear in the Knussen double bill of "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Higgledy Piggledy Pop" in Los Angeles, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
