Heesaup Yoon was born in South Korea and studied at the Hanyang University of Korea from 1996 to 2002. Since 2005 Hee-Saup Yoon has studied at the Hanns Eisler College of Music in Berlin under Heinz Reeh.

In April, 2000 Heesaup Yoon was the winner of the Hanjonachapel competition and two years later he gained first place in the national song competition in Korea as well as third place in the Donga song
