Ivo Pogorelich press reviews

. . . Pogorelich turns the best performances of all. The Haydn is extraordinary in its motoric, yet natural pulse and wonderful sense for the composer's dramatic genius. Mozart's "Turkish Rondo" Sonata is one of his more decorative piano works, and Pogorelich makes it ring with excitement when called for, and allows the softer, slower music to emerge with natural dignity. Not a note seems out of place here. The production is perfectly adequate. Camerawork is calm and efficient, and the sound is quite good, capturing the ambience of the small hall in Racconigi Castle.

Record Review / Peter Burwasser, Fanfare (Tenafly, NJ) / Mar 2008

. . . pianist Martha Argerich, recognizing a fellow Dionysian in this young Croatian virtuoso, called Mr. Pogorelich a "genius" . . . Sensitive to the music's shifting moods, Mr. Pogorelich is muscular and virile one moment, delicate and pristine the next . . . Mr. Abbado, with the London Symphony Orchestra, seems at one with his soloist . . . this fascinating release tells all.
