Biography

Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet: After her success at the Geneva Opera as Isolde in Tristan und Isolde in February 2005, she returned there in the role of Venus in a new production of Tannhäuser the following season. The Teatro San Carlo in Naples welcomed her back for Leonore in Fidelio following her debut there the previous year as Isolde in Tristan und Isolde. Other appearances in Italy have included the title role of Vanessa at the Teatro Massimo Palermo and Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence.

The 2006/7 season saw her debut at the Edinburgh Festival in the title role of Elektra and returned to the Opéra National de Paris for Cassandre in Les Troyens and Fata Morgana in The Love of Three Oranges. In the USA Jeanne-Michèle “sang the hell out of Ortrud's music while acting up a storm and was ?on’ every second she was on stage” in Lohengrin at Dallas Opera. Further engagements for the 2006/7 season includedDer fliegende Holländer – (Senta) at the Liceu, Barcelona, and her return to the Teatro Municipal, Santiago for Isolde in Tristan und Isolde. Jeanne-Michèle commenced the 2007/8 season withBluebeard's Castle - Judith with Opéra de Nantes, a new production of Elektra with Deutsche Oper in Berlin, John Fould’s A World Requiem with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, Der König Kandaules with NPS Zaterdag Matinee (Netherlands), the world premiere of Philippe Fenelon's Judith commissioned by Opéra National de Paris and Tristan und Isolde at Teatro Real-Madrid.
