Marie-Elisabeth Hecker press reviews

Every four years the Rostropovich Cello Competition is held in the city of Paris -- the "Olympics" of music competitions for your cellists.  For the one who wins and also for the last six finalists opens up a big career as a soloist.  The film covers the last round of the competition, which took place in November 2005.  They play solo cello suites by Bach, duets with piano, and playing a concerto with the Orchestra of Paris.  The first prize went this time to a German, to Marie-Elisabeth Hecker.   She played the first cello concerto of Shostavkovich, Op. 107.
