Born in Nagoya, Japan, Michiko Kamiya started playing the violin at the age of 5 and studied with Noriko Kitagaki, the late Ryosaku Kubota and Koichiro Harada. After completing the soloist diploma course at Toho Gakuen School of Music with top honors, Kamiya studied with the late Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki at the Juilliard School and Gyorgy Pauk in London.
