Staffan Martensson

Biography
In 2004, Staffan Mårtensson premiered Roland Freisitzer´s ”Konzert für Bassettklarinette und Ensemble” in legendary Musikverein (Vienna). After his clarinet studies in Stockholm, Rotterdam and Banff (Canada), Mr. Mårtensson got his break-through in 1990, winning first prize in a national Swedish competition.
The same year, he was awarded 2nd Prize in the Tromp Muziekconcours in Eindhoven for his ”musicality, artistic sense with regard to music from differend epoques and his convincing interpretation of contemporary music”. Since then, he has appeared as soloist on a regular basis in Europe and the U.S. He is also currently employed as solo clarinetist of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
Among Staffan Mårtensson´s regular co-musicians are pianists Per Tengstrand and Love Derwinger. He has recorded a number of CDs with works by Brahms, Schumann as well as Swedish contemporary music.
