VILPPU KILJUNEN is the most successful opera stage director of the new generation in Finland. Parallel to his music studies at the Helsinki Conservatory, he studied musicology, drama and theoretical philosophy at the University of Helsinki. From 1980-82 he was a dancer at the Finnish National Opera Ballet School but then he developed an interest in the art of mime and went on to study with Marcel Marceau in Paris for two years.
